As we try to continuously improve our jumpers proficiency we are starting a Basic Airborne Refresher (BAR).

We are doing this to prevent injuries and improve our new jumper confidence and abilities. The intent is to make jumping safer and better for our team.

This short course prepares the military trained parachutist for a Jump with the Phantom Airborne Brigade.

Please do not sign up for a jump if you have not attended BAR or have not executed a round canopy jump(with any organization) within the last 12 months, you will be scratched and refunded in accordance with our refund policy.

Starting June 2023- you MUST complete this course for any land jump with Phantom if you have not jumped in the past 12 months. Water jumps do not require BAR, and water jumps do not count as BAR for land jumps.

BAR is good for 90 days. example: Say you want to jump in June but can’t make it for June BAR then go to the April BAR.
Course length is about 3 hours.
This is a “hands-on” course you review:

What equipment do I need to jump?

Phantom provides all parachute equipment. This consists of SF10a, MC1-C,D, Set10 with MIRPS reserve. You must supply the uniform of the day.

What is the uniform of the day

Water Jump Uniform:

TSHIRT, SHORTS, WATER SHOES or any shoes you don’t mind getting wet.

Land Jump Uniform:

  • MULTICAM PANTS AND SHIRT, ANKLE SUPPORT JUMP BOOT (tan), bump helmet.
  • If you are just starting and have not gotten a set of multicam’s then you can wear the uniform you used while in service (if you can still fit in them).
What kind of helmet do I need?

PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR The Ballistic Helmet, or the ACH, is NOT NORMALLY used during PAB airborne operations, but is approved for land jumps. The Tactical Helmet System (see below example) is approved for use with PAB. There are many versions of this available in today’s market, the jumper should ensure the type they obtain has either a double web chinstrap or a chin cup, both types must have at least three (3) connection points. Example below shows point connections and both versions of chin strap All helmets must be fitted properly to ensure they stay on the parachutists’ heads during deployment of their parachutes and during parachute landing falls.

Phantom does not recommend one brand over another.

IRT to any bump helmet you jump SHOULD (not must) wear, it SHOULD meet or exceed CEEN 12492 (impact) and 1385 (buoyancy) ratings. Upon being asked which companies made bump helmets that meet these standards, several were named. Regardless of what brands are mentioned, it would be incumbent on the purchaser to ensure that they are getting what they are paying for. The only must is that the helmet must have a 4 point retention (chin strap) system so it can be properly JMPI’d
